2024 – Special Events
August 24, 2024 – Mount Joy Plein Air Quick Draw. This was a fantastic event that brought in 13 artists who painted different scenes of our downtown area. The final pieces were judged by Matt Allyn Chapman. The winning artists were Marita Hines, Ellen Pennington, and Kelly Charles. Over $1300 worth of art that was created that morning was sold!
May 25, 2024 – Memorial Day Parade
The Mount Joy Area Historical Society was pleased to be once again invited to the Mount Joy Memorial Day Parade. We transported 4 veterans between two cars with a fun question on the second car… who’s older, Warren or the car? Find out who’s older by clicking here!
March 24, 2024
The historical society will hold a Friend Raiser / Meet and Greet the Author event on Sunday, March 24 from 1-4 pm at the society building, 120 Fairview Street. Light refreshments will be available. Come out and explore the many displays of Mount Joy history, meet some of the board members, including Dave Reist, and participate in a scavenger hunt (inside the building). Dave, author of the recently released “And They Left Me Off at $1500 – A Century of Progress at Reist Popcorn Company” will be available to sign copies of the book, and will give a short talk at 2 pm.
